The consortium led by CONA, along with Bog`art and UTI Facility Management, has signed the contract for the design and execution of the expansion works of Sibiu International Airport. The contract value is 203.8 million lei, plus VAT, having as deadline December 31, 2023. The works involve expanding the existing terminal with two new buildings featuring a ground floor, mezzanine, and setback floor, which will be constructed on both sides of the current building. Ultimately, the terminal will have an area of 22,400 sqm up from the current 9,100 sqm, and modern facilities that meet current requirements. The project also involves modification works of the expanded terminal with the latest technologies, as well as the remodeling of traffic flows: access to the Airport will be from the roundabout located between Alba Iulia road and United Europe street.
Mircea Bulboacă, the owner of CONA: “For me and for CONA this is an important day and the joy is twofold. Both for the company, because this is a very important project, and for me, as a citizen of Sibiu, because I know what the realization of an airport means. After we completed the airport in 2006, I noticed how investments in Sibiu have greatly increased. It is very important for every foreign investor, for their investment to be near a highway or an airport, to have a welcoming business environment. After 2006, we built over 20 factories in the West Industrial Area in Sibiu and we are still building. The contractual deadlines are extremely tight, so we will put our entire experience into this project. We are a solid consortium formed by serious contractors, aware of the great responsibility we have. We also rely on the support of the involved authorities, to be able to successfully complete this ambitious project.”
